ATI Radeon 9600XT and VF700-AlCu
This cooler should quiet down my 9600XT for a reasonable price. But the Zalman compatability spec (here) does not state whether or not it is compatable with the ATI "brand" card.
Is this gonna work?

I would, but I don't need complete silence as my PC is 4-5ft away. I'd just like to stop the whine.

Maybe the 9600XT can't be cooled by a simple heatsink such as the NB47 (however, with good case airflow the 9600PRO can and it's power consumption is similar to the XT) but it does not have a higher power consumption than 9800PRO.~El~Jefe~ wrote:i would disagree.
the 9600XT uses more electricity than a 9800 pro does. its heavily oc'd to make up for less pipelines.
I have a 9600XT... I do not think it would even come close to a 9800XT. last time I checked, some site said it was 27W, or was it 37W... less than half of a 9800pro.~El~Jefe~ wrote:i would disagree.swivelguy2 wrote:Both the VF-700 and ZM-80D are big-time overkill for the 9600XT. Simple, lightweight, fanless solutions should do fine.
