ATI Radeon 9600XT and VF700-AlCu

They make noise, too.

ATI Radeon 9600XT and VF700-AlCu

Post by Random73421 » Sat Jul 16, 2005 9:09 am

This cooler should quiet down my 9600XT for a reasonable price. But the Zalman compatability spec (here) does not state whether or not it is compatable with the ATI "brand" card.

Is this gonna work?

No idea if they work but, the ZM80 series fits it and no need for a fan with it. I have been using the sapphire 9600xt and aZm80 with no issues.

I would, but I don't need complete silence as my PC is 4-5ft away. I'd just like to stop the whine.

Both the VF-700 and ZM-80D are big-time overkill for the 9600XT. Simple, lightweight, fanless solutions should do fine.

i would disagree.

the 9600XT uses more electricity than a 9800 pro does. its heavily oc'd to make up for less pipelines.

Maybe the 9600XT can't be cooled by a simple heatsink such as the NB47 (however, with good case airflow the 9600PRO can and it's power consumption is similar to the XT) but it does not have a higher power consumption than 9800PRO.

I have a 9600XT... I do not think it would even come close to a 9800XT. last time I checked, some site said it was 27W, or was it 37W... less than half of a 9800pro.
