What temp does your X800 run

I have a Gigabyte GV RX80256D (ATI X800 GPU) and it runs around 60 deg C which seems a bit high. Being passively cooled maybe I need some active cooling
Anyone have temps for their ati X800 GPU

My XL (AGP) is about the same under load.. with stock fan. Idle is 40 to 48 depending on fan speed.

60*C is pretty good for a passive X800 under load. If that's idle, then yeah, I'd be a little concerned.

My X800GTO (R480) with passive Zalman ZM80D-HP is 37*C idle and 65*C load. This is with the GPU undervolted from 1.41V to 1.135V.

I just put my P4 Retail Heatsink on my X800GTO last night, and now it runs a lot cooler (and quieter) than with the stock copper cooler. Allowed the core to run at 575MHz from about 560MHz before. I noticed that the stock blower has a considerably higher amp rating than the P4 fan too. Too bad I couldn't plug the P4 fan directly into the video card. The wire order is not the same as a normal fan header. Now I want to figure out a good way to get all that hot air directly out of the case.

Thanks for the replys. Surpisingly at idle my gpu around 58 deg and loaded goes 60 sometimes 61 so not much change.

I've got an X800 XT PE (gotta throw the PE in

).

Stock speed is 520/560. I use ATITool to underclock it to 110/250 on the desktop, if I run the ATI Silencer at 11% it idles at about 50, if I run it at 19% it idles at about 40. Mind you, this is in a P180 with only the Silencer and a top mounted fan providing any air circulation in the upper chamber (CPU cooler shoots straight up at case fan).

Under load at default clock speeds, it will run right up to 60 with the fan increasing the whole way.

X800XL stock cooling (fan between 10% and 70% through ATi-tool)
GPU: 52 idle, 65-70 under load.
mem: 48 idle, 55 under load.

X800XL Zalman VF700-Cu (fan @ 5V)
GPU: 42 idle, 56 under load.
mem: 34 idle, 40 under load.

Everything in degrees Celcius. No over- or underclocking in these temps. FWIW, I think the memory temp sensor was getting direct airflow from the VF700 which would explain the large temp diff.

X850XT stock cooling with atitool (ver 0.24)
Room temp 21C, GPU Idle 34-35C Load 63-65C
Atitool Fancontrol with the following settings
40 5%
50 9%
60 14%
70 32%
80 100%

Temps seem ok to me, but the noise level even at 5% is ouch.

X800GTO with aluminum P4 Cooler
550MHz core, 550MHz memory

idle fan at ~500rpm 42*C

I have ATITool set to try to keep the GPU temperature at 60*C so it peaks about 65*C.

it idles at 50?? at those low clocks? my X800pro@ 520/540 idles at 35...seems a bit off, don't ya think??

What kind of cooling do you have on it and what speed for the fan do you have?

EDIT: but yeah the comparison is a bit off, beats me

I had only a Gigabyte cooler on my CPU and no other fans with the X800 idling at about 58 what I thought was load was nothing after running atitool
3D I found out what load was and stock X800 went to 97.
I did a bit of trialling and found that underclocking made only a deg or so diff at idle but was about 10 better on load ie. about 87 deg.
I put a thermaltake case fan on door of case directly opp (passive cooled) vid card running at 1100 rpm it was barely audible but dropped GPU down to 48 at idle and 85 under load. Agian underclocking made little diff at idle and only about 8 deg better at load.
Conclusion(in light of ATI advice..see my recent post) for me was to run X800 at default setting and keep fan on door. Idle= 48 load= 85 no gain in underclocking.

I have an ati silencer 4, and it's running at 1200rpm, which is the lowest I can set it with the fanmate2.

Update on my X800GTO 550/550MHz temperatures:

I built a small 92mm wide cardboard duct around the card and removed the three empty expansion slot covers from my Micro ATX case. I glued a 92mm Sanyo Denki fan to the front of the duct using some foam to isolate the fan from the case and the duct. The 92mm fan is running about 1000rpm. I kept the existing fan on the P4 heatsink, but it has a somewhat grating noise at low rpm and still the loudest idle noise in the computer.

GPU idle temperature is now 37*C.

When the GPU is stressed the air coming out of the duct is quite warm. I am glad its not warming up anything inside anymore.

I keep thinking a GlobalWin VOS32 would make a nice silent GPU cooler.
