2-pin VGA fan connector & normal fans?

They make noise, too.

2-pin VGA fan connector & normal fans?

Post by Anatorax » Sun Jan 09, 2011 1:54 pm

Hi guys!

I have recently installed an Accelero S1 with Turbo module on my 6850. The problem is that I have 4 channels on my fan controller and 5 fans, so I have to use a splitter what messes up readings. I was wondering if I could connect the Turbo module (it has normal 3-pin connector) to the old 2-pin thing on the card. It is kinda tricky to access (I think I may have to take the heatsink off) and I cannot really check it myself right now, so I ask you.

Thanks!

I doubt it will be much trouble. I've connected a 3-pin fan to an old ATI card with a 2 pin fan connector by removing the holder around the pins.

But will it work properly, so that I can control it with MSI Afterburner?

Afterburner should adjust the voltage going through the red wire the same way it would with the stock fan.

The yellow wire is only used to read rotation speed. If the card only has 2 pins then it doesn't care.
