Fanless 5750 availability in Australia?

Post by theycallmebruce » Tue Apr 20, 2010 5:49 pm

Does anyone know of a retailer stocking either the PowerColor 5750 SCS3 or Go! Green models?

My fanless 3850 has served me well, but I want something with OpenCL support so that I can have a play..

I don't know Australia but I took a shot at googling some up.

Hmm, I didn't find any others but then I'm not exactly sure where to look.

Thanks for the lead. They are a wholesaler, but maybe they can tell me where I can get one retail.

They're nowhere to be found.

It seems just about impossible to find a fanless card these days.

Hey there theycallmebruce,

I bought this fanless 5750 off ebay which you can buy from me if you'd like: gigabyte GV-R575SL-1GI

Because it has four outputs I thought I would be able to use it to drive three monitors at once (I have a dual set up and I recently bought a projector so I want a third output). But you can only use two at once.

It works fine, runs nice and cool. I ran it no probs for a couple of days with a 200w PSU and it fits in my Antec Fusion. Not many fanless cards fit that bill, so I'm a bit disappointed, but without three outputs it's no good to me. Bummer. I haven't put it back on the ebay because it's a nice card and I have been trying to find a way to justify keeping it! But I think I need to get one of those cards with a display port output as the third output, I think you can drive three outputs with them. Anyway, PM me if you're interested.

PS, I'm in Canberra. Packed it's 2.2kg and the box is 48 x 32 x 22cm so you can put that in the Aussie Post calculator if you want.

It's also available at Umart now (both Brisbane and Melbourne).

The Powercolor 5750 can be had in Oz if you buy from Hong Kong. After selling my Gigabyte I got a Powercolor from a mob called linke

About $190AUD + postage.

I haven't installed it yet, but it arrived safe and sound and took about a week, so they seem like a good mob.

The widely available HIS iCooler IV 5750 is inaudible in my system but I will know better later in the week when I disconnect HDDs, replace the PSU and dial down the case fans to 500rpm.

It comes with an Arctic Cooling Accelero L2 Pro cooler and could barely get up to 60C playing Crysis for ages.

For only around $50 more you can buy pretty much the fastest, quietest and best built 5770 out there: the MSI 5770 Hawk, which is one of the quietest fanned cards ever and overclocks hugely, built with high quality components.
But then you are halfway to GTX 460 territory which is also a quiet and frugal card.

The 5770 is also about 2cm longer than 5750 I think.
