Tom's Hardware GPU Noise benchmarks - Good or YMMV?

What does everyone think about Tom's Hardware GPU benchmark comparison for 2D noise? I've been checking all of the suggested products against this list because I think a graphic card's 2D noise performance (at idle vs. full load) will reflect my typical usage (Photoshop, office apps, web browsing only, no games!).

Do you guys put much weight into Tom's Hardware's results or testing methodology? Or should I take it with a grain of salt?

Is there a better authoritative list (perhaps here on SPCR or on a different site) that allows me to compare a comprehensive list of current GPU idle/2D noise performance in an easy to read format like Tom's Hardware?

It has been a while sine I have read anything on Tom's Hardware -- I don't think they are consistent, and I doubt they have the quality of reviews that SPCR does; especially concerning noise levels.

I stopped reading Tom's when they pulled a stunt with running an Athlon without a heatsink, and they did something to make it catch fire...

Wow that's pretty embarrassing. I love the quality of SPCR's reviews, but not many models have been reviewed and I couldn't find a master list comparing several at once. Does such a list exist?

If not, is there a good list elsewhere? I'm looking for an objective comparison tool, because it's too hard to compare superlatives in Newegg user reviews like "SUPER QUIET" and "ULTRA SILENT." One person's "silent" could still be another person's "fart in a church."
