Spitfire too dam big?

I would like to put a Thermalright Spitfire on my GTX 570. I made a cardboard model of the Spitfire to scale in order to see how it would fit. It seems that the spitfire would come very close to the side of the case, leaving little room for the fan. Even if the fan fits, there will be very little space for it to draw air as its almost against the side panel. I have an Antec Sonata IV, which is 8.1 inches wide, the same as the Solo II, and P183--so this must be a common issue. I've seen it installed on gamer systems and with case-mods, but I'm wondering if anyone has installed it in a more conventional case?
