They make noise, too.

PNY Liquid cooled 580

This seems like a very interesting development in many ways. High end GPUs would benefit a lot from water cooling as you can put the radiator in a far more convenient place than on the card itself. With the added CPU loop, you can use cases that would otherwise not have room for a decent tower cooler.

Of course everything depends on how loud the pump is. I'm also a bit confused on why the standard fan is left on the card. Does the water block cover only the GPU itself?

Any ideas on small (ITX or micro-ATX) cases that would have room for the 12 cm radiator?

From the sound of the review, the fans on the radiator are rather loud...

"In terms of noise, the pump isn't terribly loud but the fans are rather noisy when running full tilt. The graphics card fan hardly ramps up, so it stays quiet. But the fans produce a higher-pitched sound signature, and are more audible that we're used to for an internal case setup."

They do mention the possibility of replacing them with quieter fans, and I imagine there's room to lower the fan speed going by the high cooling performance. The fan on the card is probably for cooling the other components.

As for small form factor cases, the real question would be whether they even could fit such a large card. : P
