Question about using Zalman FB123 Fan Bracket on Video Card

Post by saber800 » Thu Jul 31, 2003 6:39 pm

Hi, I have a GeForce Ti4200 stock (no over clocking) and the fan is kinda loud (its the blue orb). I just got a Zalman FB123 Fan bracket with 92mm fan and I was wondering what is the best way to install it?

I was thinking of keeping the blue orb on the video card but remove or unplug the fan on it and then have the Zalman blow air on it. But I was wondering if I should install the fan so it blows air down, vertically over the card (perpendicular, top down) or mount it so the fan blows air right on the blue orb (means blocking a pci slot).

I think I have enought room to mount it horizontally; there is a free pci slot between the video card and my network card.

What do you guys think? Would it be enough to have it blow down (top to bottom) of the video card? Top Down meaning from the top of the card to the bottom where the card connects to the mobo.

Thanks for any input/advice!
