So I just picked up an Asus 7750.

Its quiet, but can be quieter.

It has a 70 or 80mm PWM fan on the heatsink.

I was wondering if I could simply remove the fan and replace with a standard 120mm fan.

here's a picture of the fan wiring.

thanks for any advice.

the GPU already has a 4-pin PWM header.

I simple wanted to replace fans with a standard 92 or 120mm PWM fan.

Fan headers on video cards are smaller than normal so an adapter like the one Tzeb posted would make it easier to plug the replacement fan. It might be possible to fit the fan without an adapter if you remove the plastic bit surrounding the pins. I've only tried this with 3 pin headers though so I can`t say for sure whether it will work or not..

Then you`ll need to find a way to attach the fan to the heatsink, probably using zip ties or rubber bands.

One more thing to consider is the maximum speed of the replacement fan. It should be enough to cool your card under load. A slow 120mm fan will probably not cut it as the small heatsink won`t be able to take advantage of such a fan. A 92 or 80 mm fan will probably be a better bet since those tend to have higher maximum speeds.

@ntavlas.

got it. that explains it.

looking at the fan header on the GPU, it seems like a standard 4-pin PWM header, but will check once the fan comes in.

Thanks!
