Graphic cards power consumption reviews: any reliable one?

They make noise, too.

Graphic cards power consumption reviews: any reliable one?

Post by quest_for_silence » Fri Aug 24, 2012 2:49 am

Which are any current reliable sources for power consumptions data?

For several years I've looked to TPU, but now I feel uncomfortable with their findings.

Just an example:

- http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVID ... Ti/25.html (Jan 25th 2011)
- http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Pali ... am/26.html (Aug 16th 2012)

Test setups are obviously different (X58 vs. Z77), but how can this affect the VGA power consumption measures (and in case, may this be enough to justify those 15-20W differences: I'm referring to the original GTX 560Ti measures vs. the reported ones in the GTX 660Ti review)?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

About that, I can answer by myself: it's a different test (3D Mark vs. Crisys 2).

I'm a big fan of the Tech Report, their articles and reviews are really top stuff.
