The cut-down version of the GTX 660 has arrived. In general, performance and pricing is between the HD 7770 and the HD 7850. Best for 1680x1050 game play and below (although some less gpu intensive games may play well at 1080p). 110W TDP.

Thanks for the list as usual, Steve.

Shame the sites only want to review the overpriced editions, leaving us guessing if the acoustics of the economy models are any good, but I guess they only care about the FPS in the end. I think I'll just buy an MSI OC model blind for this mini-ITX gaming build - it's only 130 euros compared to the 160+ price tags of most cards listed here. These days you get an AC3 download code to boot!

My pleasure. Chances are Asus, MSI, etc. only ship out the high end units for review. If a site wants to review the econo-model, they'd have to purchase it.

Less than $10 difference between the two MSI cards here. Have fun messing with our revolution. :)

Indeed - sucks to live in the middle of trade route nowhere. :P

And I from time to time forget the samples are received, not acquired per se.

I need 2GB of video memory, and I'm considering the gigabyte board. The Anandtech review concludes that it has a great cooler, but the fan curve is too aggressive. So, is it configurable? At least with MSI Afterburner or something like that?

Gigabyte has their OC GURU ll s/w with some sort of fan control. Or you could use MSI Afterburner.

I have been convinced by some of you to go to the GTX 650 or GTX 650 Ti w/ a Accelero passive cooler. Now, I'm happy with an non-overclock version (i.e., just regular core speed is fine)

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/produc ... id=4474#ov

but I can't find the above in North America. It seems those OEM brand like Gigabyte or Asus only sells the over clock ver.

the problem w/ the over clock ver. is, the higher the over clock, the higher the chance of coil whine

any suggestion? How many of you are using the GTX 650 Ti, or GTX 650 Ti Boost WITH A Accelero Passive cooler and has no coil whine?

You can tweak clocks, power limit and even vCore with Afterburner.

My MSI hasn't had any coil whine, rest of my assessment is here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=65468. Unfortunately for you I haven't swapped out the cooler, but I listened attentively for a month and from time to time listen at the back of my case for any coil whine (I have tinnitus, and it eases my mind to make sure nothing is actually whining).

Did you over clock your GTX 650 Ti ? OR did you leave it as the factory default speed of the 650 Ti?

The MSI N650Ti-1GD5/OC, as the model name implies, is factory-overclocked, but it's a very light overclock (some two dozen MHz, 954 MHz), so I've left it as-is.

Does anyone know the power consumption of MSI N650Ti-1GD5/OC under load?
I've seen the non-OC figures, but factory overclocking sometimes changes a lot (and I have a 350W PSU, so this might be an issue).
I don't need the extra power, but the OC'ed card is easier to find and... cheaper.
Otherwise: can this card be underclocked and would it make a difference in power consumption?

Nevertheless, they've really worked their magic on this one. MSI at it's best. I'l have to make some revolution in my case to fit this PCB, but it seems worth a try.

Since it's a bulk card you'll be hard-pressed to find actual figures. Its big brother has a <90 W maximum load, so I think you should be fine with your 350 W PSU, assuming it is 80 Plus rated (and further assuming you don't have two overclocked 100 W CPUs or something as crazy).
