Silent 22-24" monitor recommendations

Hi, I'm looking for a new 22-24" monitor to replace my Dell 2209WA. Only real reason for changing is the fact that the Dell has an incredibly annoying high pitched "eeeee" sound coming from it, on anything but 100% brightness. Issue being that 100% brightness burns your retinas out :roll:

So any recommendations? Preferably the monitor would have an IPS screen, matte surround and anti glare coating. Being silent is an absolute must. Closer to 22" would be great as I don't really need anything bigger.

Thanks for the link, I did have a quick look at that sticky earlier on. Was just wondering if anyone had anymore up to date experiences.

I got a Dell U2412M (24", IPS panel, 1920x1200) about three months ago,
and I'm very pleased with it. Absolutely silent, as far as I can hear!

Is that across all of the brightness range? I did look at that monitor and also the U2312HM, although I couldn't find much about noise (or lack of) on the U2312HM. I do like the Dell monitors, my 2209WA seems well built, it's just the annoying noise that it produces on anything but 100 brightness that is making me consider a change.

Yup. I've currently got the brightness set at 40% and contrast at 75%. With the LED
backlighting the 40% is plenty.

I own a u2311h and it's silent at all conditions.

That's good to hear. I'll have to see if my preferred UK retailer puts it on offer tomorrow, even though it's at a reasonable price already.

I have a 2209WA and U2412M. As you say, my 2209WA also makes an annoying noise. I've never noticed any noise from my U2412M, but I just compared the two with my ear up to the top-back of both. It appears there's some noise coming from the U2412M, but only very slight. The 2209WA is significantly noisier, and also more high pitched in tone.

I've been very happy with the U2412M.

Looks like I might get the U2412M then. Good to hear from other owners of the monitor and especially ones who can do a direct comparison.

Just had the U2412M delivered and I've set it up. I'm pleased to say it appears to be silent across all the brightness range
