Hi!

I'm about to get a new computer, and I'm thinking about getting the 9600pro Ultimate ed, but I am a bit worried that it might not fit together with the Abit IC7-G.

Has anyone here this setup, and can confirm that it works?

lots of people on the abit forums have got them on their IC7-G (I did, but I killed my card :4600- long story)
Should be some pics there (don't have link as I'm at work atm, sorry)

The 9600 Pro Ultimate is factory-fitted with the passive Zalman GPU- cooler.

lots of bods have added the zalman aftermarket (the HPA - cant recall the name) and have asked the same question. Have a look under the name for that. Lots of people say it clears the NB with no issues on IC7-G. I have tried it myself

are the only threads I could find. Don't know where all the posts have gone too 'cause I did a hell of a lot of reading on the same combo as you a while ago.

After reading through the thread about the bad mic on the IC7-G, I think I'm going to follow your and a friends recommendations a go for the LanParty instead (even though it looks kinda cheesy...)

..seems like the LanParty isn't really that good at OC though <:( ...perhaps I should go with the IC7-G and get a sound card?

I would still think the LAN party is my preferred board
The lan case and front X (which I have bought seperately) cost quite a bit and are bundled with the DFI. BTW, according to the reviews I read when the DFI came out, it kicked the rest of the 875 ocing scores to bits.

The very po0r sound on my IC7-G (very poor quality, listen to an mp3 with it -lol) and also the mic issues, forced me to get an Audigy 2. So much superior and I'm glad I bought it now.

Don't forget the NB heatsink ring will explode due to tension and poor soldering.
Having said that I still love my IC7-G due to getting a 2.4 @ 3.0 @ stock v.
5/4 divider on 3500 xms ram with 2225 timings (2.8v)
Have pulled out and put on molex connectors while on
and modded & generally battered it - still running.

A great overclocking and silencing solution -perfect for games.
Oh and using 4 SATA adaptors for all my IDE devices (inc DVD-RW and CD-ROM). U will hit a 275 fsb barrier tho. I'm just happy to have a board with I can have both OC and silence
