Your opinion on the Vantec Iceberg 4?

They make noise, too.

Your opinion on the Vantec Iceberg 4?

Well, visited my local overclocking shop, and the guys suggested that I go for a Vantec Iceberg rather than a Zalman ZM80 heatsink for cooling the Radeon 9800Pro card. The guy was saying that the Vantec Iceberg cools very well and is also very quiet, but I'm not sure whether to believe him because the shop specialises in overclocking and not silence, and his level of noise tolerance may be higher than mine.

So since I know no one who uses it, I wanna know whether the Vantec Iceberg really works well in cooling and is quiet as well. Okay, thanks.

It looks like a decent cooler. Lots of small fins, and relatively big.

I'd guess it would be too loud on its own, but would run well if the fan voltage is lowered a little. Maybe removing the plastic plate would help, but probably not.

I have a GF2400 with a cute cooler like on this picture: http://www.overclockers.ru/images/lab/2 ... 200-sm.jpg

It is was? not very loud, but the fan bearings are getting old. Also, it looks very nice, but the actual fins and the plate that is pressed against the chip are connected through very narrow bits of metal because of the way the sink is made. Thus the fins are cold while the chip is hot.

FWIW the Vantec Iceberq4 cooler is also sold under the brands Sharkoon and Revoltec. Not that it helps me find them in a shop that is not overpriced...

Anyone with first hand experience with them? I'm curious why there is not a combination of a low profile heat sink, a tunnel, and a bit larger fan on the market. The tunnel would direct air to or from the heat sink, while most cases ahve space in front or above the card to take the fan. I'd be tempted to make one myself is I had a low profile heat sink profile. The tunnel could easily be cut if a component is in the way.
