I'm upgrading my current system
(new mobo/case/cooling) and have decided to go with a balanced
approach between cooling (overclocking) and a bearable noise level.

(compucase case with the 2 120mm fans, Zalman 7000Cu for the cpu
and a zalman bracket with a vantec stealth 120mm to cool NB/VGA)

now my question is : will the mounted Vantec stealth ( zalman bracket)
be sufficient to cool my Radeon 9800NP, if i disconnect the radeon's own small&annoying fan?

Opinion: I don't think it will be sufficient for a 9800 non-pro. Might be sufficient for a 9200 Pro or something but not for a high end 3D card.

I really suggest a Zalman heatpipe cooler along with the fan. The stock heatsinks are just too small. With a heatpipe cooler + 120mm fan you should get some very impressive overclocks with full stability.

Actually I'd correct part of your statement in that a 120mm fan blowing over even a Radeon 9200 pro is total overkill.

Yeah the zalman is very nice
but right now i don't want to spend anymore money on my new system (saving for the new seagate 7200.7 series).
and i'd like to keep the option to install my ramsinks.

I guess if the Vantech stealth won't cut it I might consider replacing it with some
old celeron heatsink with artic silver thermal adhesive.

does anybody know what kind of mix rates i needto be able to remove the epoxied heatsink, if i need to RMA my card?
