new review with power draw figures

Post by jojo4u » Fri Oct 03, 2003 5:07 am

http://www.computerbase.de/article.php?id=238&page=24

Pentium 4 3,00GHz (200MHz FSB QDR)
Motherboard:
Intel D875 PBZ mit BIOS B03 vom 15.3.2003
Arbeitsspeicher:
2*256MB Corsair XMS3000 CL2

They measure the AC power draw of the system.
The figures can't be compared directly to their last test because of a new test system.
Conclusion: Get a Radeon 7500/9000 pro/9600 (pro)

Very revealing information.

I think a lot of people looking into silent computers (not just silent video cards) should look into this.

Thank you for posting. Almost thought, nobody is interested in.... ;)

I actually have some first hand experiences:

I plugged of the fan on a Radeon 7500 and the heatsink gets only a little bit warm during idle. My Radeon 9700 with Zalman heatpipe gets very hot during idle....
