matrox tv out cable use on 'standard' video card

Post by mynci » Tue Oct 14, 2003 1:44 am

i suspect the answer is a big no, possibly with warnings like 'you will blow up your tv', or graphics card.
however i will ask all the same as if the answer is yes all my problems are solved, elegantly too.

i have a vga-s-video/video cable left over from a matrox g450 (or perhaps 400), lovely card but as it only had 32MB couldnt quite handle two full colour 1600*1200 displays. i was wondering if i were to plug it into the onboard vga of my htpc mobo, and drop the screen res to, say 800*600 @50 or 60Hz would it work? would it give me the wrong voltages which may damage my tv? or will it work a treat and i dont need to find that half height vga card with tv out?

any pointers or ramblings are most welcome.

cheers
mynci
