New Sony VAIO RA-810G completely fanless?

Post by silenceseeker » Thu Oct 21, 2004 5:08 am

I just came across an article in the latest PC Magazine issue that describes the new Sony VAIO RA-810G as fanless due to an "innovative heat chimney".

They even go as far as calling it "a silent beauty".

Anyone heard about this "silent beauty"? Is it truly 100% silent (i.e. no fans whatsoever, of any kind, as in my DENON receiver)?

If so, I would like to hear your opinion.

Thanks,
Sam

According to this blurb from the article:
PC Rag wrote: where a 120mm exhaust fan passes air over a finned heat exchanger.
it does have at least one 120mm fan in it.

It also uses a "stock Delta 400W power supply" (read: loud)

Do you really need a 3.4E for an HTPC that isn't equiped for gaming?
