Looks good to me.

Gentle Typhoons are best used for CPU fans or horizontal fans or where you have restricted airflow. Otherwise Nexus is probably a better choice.

Try a Prolimatech (or Thermalright HR-01 plus) with a PWM fan so that most of the time the fans will be operating at low rpms.

Get the SPRC recommended seasonic PSU and much of the time its fan won't even be kicking in.

On the SSD. You might consider an OCZ Vertex with the 1.5 firmware release if write times are important to you.

Hi,

Is the video card actively cooled? Is the stock cooler quiet? That will probably be the loudest item.

I'm not sure about the need to save space on the CPU heatsink -- you've got a large case and a large heatsink makes it quieter and cooler. Also, there may be quieter hard drives...

I went with the Antec CPU to be assured of a good fit. I will look into its quietness. I had the Seasonic as an earlier choice. I will recommend your suggestions on the additional fans if needed.
On the CPU Cooler. Is the ANTEC P183 truly large, MidTower Case, to take either one of the recommendations?
I also have to be sure the CPU Cooler will not interfere with the Memory or
Sapphire Vapor-X 5870.

Thanks for taking part in this discussion. I still have about a month to make a decision on a monitor, so fine tuning the other components is GREAT.

Instead of the Typhoons, what about S-Flex fans if they are needed.
Does anyone know if the Antec Fans that come with the case are very noisy?

yes they are. and they push hardly any air when put to low.

Hmm, if you have special requirements considering the monitor, you may want to look for a 26", they have 1920x1200 too but are bigger.
And who needs such an expensive CPU and so much memory? If it's for gaming, most games are still 32bit, and 6 GB would be more than enough for them. :P

Oh, if you really value silence, harddrives in general make a lot of noise, so you could use a DIY NAS (cheap AMD with 2x 1.5 TB drives) and attach it to your home network via 100 gbps ethernet, that will give you 100+ MB/s and should not limit your harddrives a lot.

I wouldn't recommend Caviar Blacks for silence. If you are just using them for storage, check SPCR's HDD recommendations (just updated on home page). I am currently forced to use one as one of my silent PC HDDs died, and the thing is just buzzing away and the seeking noises are bothersome even suspended in the lower 5.25 of my mini p180.

The vapor-x 5850 is going to be audible. You may want to look around at a reference model and aftermarket cooling solutions.

Dark Knight as your CPU cooler will get the job done and its fins are spaced further apart than something like a TRUE, so a lower RPM fan will be more effective as I understand it.
