Lian Li Q08 (w.i.p.)

Post by Eddie666 » Sat Nov 13, 2010 7:53 am

Hi to everyone: this is my little project based on Lian Li Q08; nowadays is still not complete, 'cause I' waiting for the vga (I don't know exactly which one..maybe cayman, if it fit ;) )
now, this is the hardware:

case: Lian Li Q08
motherboard: asus M4A88T-I + enzotech mosfet cooling
cpu: amd X6 1055t 95w
ram: 2x4 gb so dimm ddr3 corsair @ 1333mhz
Hard disk: 1 x ssd intel 160gb G2 + 1 x 2,5" 320gb western digital scorpio black
Optical drive: slot in slim 5,25" blu ray reader optiarc BC-5600s
cooling: corsair h50 + scythe slip stream 140mm + nanoxia pwm converter
case fan: 1 x 120mm scythe slip stream
psu: enermax modu 87+ 500w

and here some photos: I tryed to do my best for cable menagemant, but it was not so easy for the size of the Q08 ;)

this is a screenshot avout temps after 30min of OCCT: the cpu is downvolted to 1.1v (but NOT downclock, so 2.80ghz/3.30ghz turbocore), but I think that I could overclock a bit (max temp for 1055t 95w is 71°, instead 65° for the 1055t 125w)

Little update on my mini itx, consisting in a radical modification of the internal cooling system.
At first I move the H50 on the top (fan configured extraction);it wasn't easy to install because the tubes of corsair touched SO-DIMM, so I had to place the radiator on the top, with the fan below:

Then I decide to put on the front (as intake) a huge silverstone AP181: I finally opted for a "homemade" solution that guarantee a good accessibility for maintenance / cleaning / etc ..

As you can see the fans is "stuck" between two soft media (recovered from the packing of the case: D) On the floor of the case I put a small metal stand, while the fan on the top fits against the small ledge below the 5.25" bay; since there is enough space I've been able to keep the original dust filter.

The second update concerns a problem related to overclocking and summer temp: my mobo (asus M4A88T-I) has 3+1 phases (that's why there is the 95W limit for CPU);'cause I put on a 1055T 95w, I previously placed heat sinks (enzotech) on the vrm-mosfets to avoid throttling of frequencies (if the temperature of the VRM rise too much the mobo automatically drops the multiplier down): on winter everything worked without any issues, but on summer temperatures rise too much, and so I put a 40mm fan directly on the mosfet, controlled by the motherboard:

thanks to the fan no more drop problems, and my cpu is now overcloked to 3300mhz (236x14, turbo core enable @ 3894): here there is a screenshots of prime 95 after 27h
