(really) Silent Foxconn NT330I

Post by Eddie666 » Fri Jun 17, 2011 3:24 am

just a few days ago I decided to buy this nettop, to use as a small server and HTPC: everything has worked well, except for a "small" problem ... the noise! In fact, the mini fan that have to cool the CPU and GPU is immediately proved to be too noisy for my needs, so I decided to make a minor change to the dissipation.

At first, I pulled an old aluminum heatsink hi-fi, polished surface, and created a sort of hook plate with 2mm thick wire. Then I installed a fan on the same 120mm (a scythe slim), powered by a 5V USB port:

after all the pc is really silent and the temps went lower than the original heatsink: so I decided to create a structure that would make it a bit more graceful to the eye :D
