I think the best SSF is still a BRIX Pro 5775, despite being 3 years old. It has Iris Pro (decent integrated graphics with dedicated RAM), quad core with hyperthreading, space for SSD and HDD. You do have to mod it for quietness, and it lacks fixed function 10 bit HEVC decoding.

We are going through a lull in processor development, with Intel stagnating on 14nm, and AMD catching up but still behind in performance/power. Maybe we will get another good compact system in late 2019 if Intel manages to get 10nm out by then.
