Eheim 1048 noise warning

Post by chylld » Mon Nov 15, 2004 8:10 pm

i'm not sure if this applies to all eheim 1048 pumps, but something that's recently become very annoying with mine is the front filter grate (the grey thing) which is now rattling with the vibration of the pump. i've confirmed that it is indeed the grate and not the internals of the pump (thankfully).

just something you might want to consider if you're about to install a 1048, because unless you're running the pump submerged, you don't need it at all (i left it on because i thought it looked pretty) :)

because it's very tightly packed in in my radbox, it's impossible to take it off now :O

out of curiosity, how did you take the back cover off? and what does it look like underneath?

Rear cover comes off by prising towards the rear with a screwdriver and levering.

It then looks like:

Can only think of: that you'll allow the circulating air a more direct contact with the epoxy which may hopefully help dissipate heat through the air better, resulting in slightly lower pumps temps, which means less heat going into the water...

Who knows,... it may be worth 0.1 deg C... :D

Shouldn't you be getting some beauty sleep by now...

I riped it off cause it rattled when I shook the pump in my hand. Had to cut the power cord anyways so I just popped it off. Im pretty cramped for space so for me it was noise/space restraits for motivation. Doubt you'll get any temp difference anywhere from removing it. The sides of my 1048 are what warm up, not the back.
