Reserator hose question

Post by shoek » Tue Jan 11, 2005 10:41 am

Does anyone know what size the Reserator's hose is? Is it standard 1/2" ID (Internal Diameter) that can be hooked up to other waterblocks that have 1/2" fittings?

I'm looking to use my Reserator with a new Xeon system and the Reserator's waterblocks do not support the Xeon. I'm looking at Koolance or Swiftech. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

IIRC the internal diameter is 8mm and outer 12mm, whatever that is in inches i dont know. :) The silicone tubing is very flexible though, so i dont believe it has to be exactly the right size..

12 mm corresponds to a hair over half an inch (12/25.4). 8 mm corresponds to slightly more than 3/8" (8/25.4).

Edit: Early mornings are bad for thinking  12 mm is a hair LESS than half an inch, and 8 mm is slightly LESS than 3/8". See HammerSandwich's numbers below.

Hmmm... 12/25.4 = .472 < .500 and 8/25.4 = .315 < .375.

Well, the math is close :D

Just to verify what I'm trying to do, which is use my Reserator on a Dual Xeon system. Since the Zalman ZM-WB02 waterblocks do not fit on Xeons (well, Zalman does not sell an adaptor for them), I was looking to get the Koolance blocks. They come in 3 sizes: 6mm ID, 10mm ID, and 13mm ID. I'd want the 10mm variant, right (assuming that the 8mm ID tubes the reserator uses could stretch to 10mm)?

Here's the link to the Koolance block:

Does everyone think this is the right block and stretching 8mm ID to 10mm ID fittings won't cause leaks or anything?

If the outer diameter of the connector on the block is 10mm it will fit. I dont know what size a aaa(LR03) battery is, but compared to the tubing i would guess its 10mm diameter and the tube fits over it easily :) The tubing does strecht pretty well, and when its on it grabs on really hard. When i put the tube on my vga-block and realised i f*cked up, i couldnt get it off without cutting  Also i tried to put it on my index finger, and when i took it off it felt like the nail was going to be ripped off the finger

And what did you learn from that, boys and girls?

Seriously -- why did you put it on there?
