topic is quite self-explanatory, but here's some details:

i'm looking for a radiator... a big radiator... with a very big fan. i'm talking 140mm+ (that's 5½"+) in width and height. i was thinking about building a case and if I can find one of these, it'd be perfect for my design. i could theoretically go as big as 220mm. that's about 9".

speaking of huge fans... has anyone mounted a table fan in a computer case?

IN CASE i cant find a big enough radiator... how difficult is it to fabricate one? anyone have any experience with that? i mean a radiator that can pass air through it, so not a passive radiator.

140mm fans can be used (and have been by many folks) quite happily on PA Series rads. PA160 will take upto (you guessed it!) a 160mm fan. You just have to come up with your own way of attaching them...

And heater cores are available in many, many sizes.

The SHROUD allows fitment of a 120mm fan, but remove the shroud and you have a core that is 160mmx160mm, thus will happily accept a 160mm diameter fan, but as I said, you'd have to find your own way to mount it.

In addition to your local junkyard heater cores and such, you can try a variety of auto parts stores on line. Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com) has an online store. Just go to their heating and cooling department and either check out "heater cores" or "oil coolers". The last has a section on general fluid coolers which you can search by size.

You COULD go more extreme and get an aluminum car rad from Fluidyne, and attach two electric fans to it. However, you'll have to find a way to reduce the fittings from 1.5" to 1/2".

In my fanless watercooling setup, I used two externally-mounted transmission oil coolers (each about the size of the side of the PC) When the summer month temperatures exceeded 95F, I would set a room fan to blow on the radiators, ensuring a cool processor.

I think a huge table fan might give you some problems with the big magnets being too close to your drives.

The very strong magnets in the hard drive are even closer.....

And you're doing this... because you're assuming 160mm fans will be quieter than 120s? You might want to check this assumption if that's the case as my experience is that they are not.
