Making a Reserator 1 into a Reserator 1 plus

Post by Atmosper » Fri Jun 08, 2007 9:58 am

Hi!
I recently bought a used Reserator 1 and have just set it up. In the future I would like to convert my reserator 1 into a reserator 1 plus to get the quick-couplings. Does anyone know if they are available separately?

Cheers!

Dont think you can buy the one from zalman separately. The thread on the reserator is G1/4, so you are looking for something like this http://www.alphacool.de/product_info.ph ... -4-ag.html

I thought frozencpu.com had them, but I dont see them anymore.

Thanks a lot for the thread info. I will look into it later on. Seems like I have to change all the tubing though since they are for 8/10 mm tubes and the zalman ones are 8/12 mm :?

I called zalman about this a year ago. The fittings change is really annoying and well, plastic to metal is a bad idea in plumbing, plastic to plastic is better, and, came to the conclusion that its just more of a hassel doign the conversion.

You should be happy you ahve the res1. it has a better cpu heatsink on it. gets a normally quoted 1-2C lower temps than the smaller block res2 people got. of course, the res2 gpu block is much better and I swapped to that for my x1900 card. I just bought a really long length of blue hose from Sharka and simply slash up the hose situation when I want to draine it. those clamps worth the same really.

ok, just thought it would be convenient when I'm going to move the system. I don't have those clamps either, is there a viable alternative for those?

I actually bought the newer cpu-block since the mounting bits was missing and the finish of the base of the original water block was pretty bad. A couple of degrees difference doesn't bother me, though.

Thanks for the input!

you can call zalman and get those cliips. I assure you, those clips make the job rather simple. Sharka computers is zalman's friend sort of company that can get any zalman tidbit you need. THey have hoses that are any length (I think any length) you need. I got a rather long piece when I redid my system. I lengthing the to and from distances to the box about 7-8 inches so that its not so tight when things have to be moved. Also, I used the new, really dumb cheesy simple pci bracket that Res2 has. I figured it was only like 2 bux or so, might as well get it when I ordered the hose. It replaces your compression fittings. Zalman realized how useless and how LEAKY a compression fitting can be (the case ones, mine were machined and electrostatically chromed improperly I think).

peace
