windows7 is about to be installed for 30 dollars.

spend more on it for the disk just in case things blow up one day

so for 49 dollars total, i have windows 7 professional 64 bit

cant go to the 260gtx. sighs. need to get dx11 sighs..

gtx 260 is a decent card, and should be able to be found pretty cheap. 5770 isn't really a great performer (but does bring other things to the table).

it is best to go all the same metal, even if you do use chemicals to inhibit corrosion, it doesnt stop it, just slows it down.

Ah I didn't see your post about dx11. If you need dx11, ATI is the only show in town!

heh, this forum seems pretty sparsely populated huh?

My system is far from silent... its quiet, but definitely not silent. Given the amount of noise where I live, silent is a pipe dream anyway (Hong Kong). So yeah, its all relative. If you are curious my setup includes:

Cosmos 1000 case
Q6600 @ 3600
GTX 260

and Cooling stuff:
XSPC 140x3 (actually direct from the factory so its not actually branded XSPC, but thats what it is)
Swiftech 220
655 Vario pump
Swiftech Microres
Swiftech GTZ CPU block
Swiftech MCW60 GPU block
enzotech ramsinks

Yate Loon fans throughout.
Silverstone CMD01 fan controller (which I am *very* impressed with. Full software solution, reads temp sensors etc... and available from Amazon for 17 USD if you are in the US).

So yeah, its overclocked quite a bit, with high ambient temps but fans at < 1000 rpm.... so quiet, not silent :)
