Found tips on replacing Eheim 300 in a Reserator

"Comments: This Eheim 300 is the pump that you need to replace a faulty pump inside the Zalman Reserator 1. This newer model of the pump has a slightly thicker power cord, so you'll have to drill out the pressure fitting and the hole where the power cord comes out of the bottom of the Reserator to accommodate it. When you install the pump, all you need to do is just cut of the plug and thread the cord through, and then put on a new plug, which you can buy in any hardware store. Use a strap wrench to unscrew the bottom of the Reserator, inserting anything into the tube outlet holes can damage them. The bottom of the Reserator will unscrew using a strap wrench even if it takes a bit of effort. Make sure that you replace the long screws that hold down the pump with stainless steel screws if they are corroded. Don't use galvanized screws, because they will corrode and the resulting grit will damage the pump. Also, you can cut a thick piece of plastic to use as a strip with the two screws screwed through it and into the Reserator base to hold down the pump instead of the aluminum strip that comes with the Reserator. The aluminum strip corrodes and falls apart. Clear silicone is good enough to seal the outlet where the power cord exits the bottom of the Reserator. Thread the power cord through the pressure fitting and the hole, then fill the hole with silicone and screw down the pressure fitting and let it cure overnight. The Zalman Reserator is a great water cooling system, but the weak link is the pump which tends to start to become noisy and fail after a time. Fortunately, these Eheim 300 pumps are relatively inexpensive and this will completely refurbish your Reserator 1.
