Hi guys, I'm in need of your help. I've recently bought a watercooling case from Zalman, the LQ1000. I intend to use the case to watercool the cpu, a Intel i7 920 and a saphhire radeon 5850, which I also own.
I have to say that while I'm impressed with the overall quality of the case, on the WWW on various forums, I have encountered opinions that are stating that this case is quite poor at watercooling, when you add to the loop a power hungry graphics card.
I do not plan to overclock, neither the cpu nor the radeon. The case has 2 fans, one for the rad, another for case. I'll have 3 storage devices, one IDE and one SATA hardisks which will be at idle most of the time. The OS, games, apps will sit on a Intel G2 SSD, which I guess will not generate much heat.
Now that you know my setup, I would like to ask of you opinions and advices. The waterblocks that will be used in the cooling loop are the Zalman WB5 plus for the CPU and the EK FC-5850 waterblock for the GPU.
Before I start mounting the unit, I would like to read your advices.

Seems like a pretty straightforward setup and a nice case and cooling system.

Well I finally built the system with one change though: the CPU waterblock used is HeatKiller LT rev. 3.

Pump issues

Hello guys,

I'm experiencing some problems lately with the case, to be specific with the alarm of the front panel. Sometimes, not usually, the alarm activates and beeps. When I shutdown the PC, then after 30 seconds I turn it back on, the beep goes away.

Reading the manual of the case, I learned that the alarm gets beeping when the temperatures are high, or when the flow is low. Since I can see that the temps are good, 25 - 29 Celsius degrees, with Everest, and also with the front display of the case, I came to the conclusion that the flow somehow is really low.
I keep the case on it's auto setting, because this setting keeps the noise levels of the fan really low.
I was thinking of changing the pump. So my question to you, is anyone able to recommend me a good, silent, with variable flow control, water pump?
Or maybe someone, who has this case, has experienced the same issue, and has managed to fix it.

Thats an amazing looking case!

I use a Laing D5 vario pump... once its dialed down to 3 or less its pretty quiet. However, before you go changing pumps, you should check if you have any build of gunk (algea etc) in your blocks, and make sure you don't have any kinks in your tubes that could cause flow restriction.

I want to change the water pump of this machine with the following

From what I can see, the Eheim HPPS doesn't have a 3 pin connector.
I can live with the fact that I won't be able use the front dial of the case to control the power of the pump. My fear is that the front panel will start the alarm if it detects that the 3 pin connector cable that goes to the front panel, doesn't have an input. This happens for example when you don't connect one of the fans.

So my question, did anyone changed the water pump of a Zalman LQ1000 or a Zalman Reserator XT with a pump that doesn't have a 3 pin connector?
