It looks much like the corsair water coolers that have noisy pumps. If Antec managed to make a quiet pump this could help with some great single fan builds. It's Only $70 with fan.

Has anyone baffled a water pump with layers of foam?

i remember someone on [h]ardforum dampened their h50 with some akasa foam... made a difference, but i dont recall any specifics. i've also seen the ddc pump dampened by maybe 2cm thick box of foam.

any excess heat buildup in thee pump gets transferred to the water, and cooled as part of the loop, so theres really no downside to the procedure in my eyes. the cpu mounted pumps cant really be vibration isolated like a separate pump, but obviously there are other factors in play.

I'm imagining a mATX set up where the power supply (mounted at the bottom) fan could be rewired to be on always and the radiator could be mounted right on top of the power supply. It would work with integrated graphics or passively cooled card. there is a great mITX setup somewhere on this forum with the corsair cooler.

1. Any performance tests on this thing yet?

Is there really a good reason to chose something like the Antec Kühler over something like this:

2. How about this. I bet it would help a lot:
Gel-Stuff Vibration Absorption Block

Probably most of the noise is resonating vibration. I bet this will stop that dead in its tracks.

1:not yet. I wouldn't wait unless you have a particular build that this would fit perfectly. My guess is this WON'T be a game changer

2: that is for water cooled systems with an external pump. This one is integrated.

20%? sounds like air is still the way to go.
as if there were any doubt

It performs better than a Prolimatech Super Mega. However 1450-2000 RPM doesn't suggest "quiet"

The pump is made by the same company so we can expect the same noise levels.

The pump is irrelevant, as it can be buried in foam and not suffer from it. The fan is what worries me. I'd love to see the cooler tested with a few different fans. I might buy one and test it myself.

I have a D5 pump suspended like the harddrives in the various suggestions here at SPCR and I do not here the vibration noise anymore. My fans on the radiator are silent before mounting but once mounted the air funneling through the radiator and shrouds are the most invasive noise of my machine. I run all my fans at 5 VDC because of the convenient availability and the desire to not waste current into heat on a voltage regulator to step down the 12 vdc to something lower.

Water cooling is not silent but quiet at best. The components are not necessarily audible outside the case but the quantity of air localized at the radiator is very hard to mask. Also, any air bubbles are distinctly audible and I occasionally hear a bubble surfacing to the fill port even after months of operation.

So, back to ops question, pumps can be made near silent.

But this sort of integrated pump is connected to the CPU directly so you can't really suspend it.
