First I would like to say that I am missing a forum index on watercooling. I think it would deserve its own index on the main page as with watercooling it is easier to build a totally silent system then with the usual fan aircooling. Altho not everybody might agree with me
Also I see less information on the forum and site about watercooling then I would expect.

Okay on topic:
I just found out that Innovatek which makes many parts for watercooling also has passive radiators !


This can be simply mounted on the side of your case like shown on


which eliminates the need for having fans on your radiator/CPU which helps to make a very quiet setup. Or even a totally fanless computer in a more complex setup. I also have a (much larger) passive radiator on the side of my case but I custom made that one myself about half a year ago.

in de case gallery forum I posted more information about my case and you can also see some of my radiator.
Water temp is about 35 C, which is 12 over room temp. CPU temp it says 37 but that is ASUS probe, and I think its a bit higher...
I am cooling my overvolted AMD XP2400+ with it, NB, GPU and 4 x HD. Soon also DDR and PSU I hope

Innovatek stuff is hugely overpriced, IMO. That "passive rad" has a relatively small surface area as far as I can see. If you want passive radiators just use a large car heatercore. If you check around the more specialised water-cooling fora - overclcokers.com, procooling, etc. - there are numerous examples of passive water-cooling.

Looks nice though, most car radiators used for watercooling aren't someting I'd want hanging off the side of my PC.

All car radiators and heatercores I have seen so far has been designed for horisontal airflow. To use such a cooler efficiently you would need to turn the cooler to get help from convection.
In practical terms that will be mounting the radiator on top of your PC with some spacing in between.

This passive radiator from Innovatek is constructed for vertical airflow, so it is intended for placement on the side of your PC. That feature makes it fundamentally different form normals radiators, and might even justify the high price.
