New Motherboard help!!!

Post by Deufo » Thu Oct 28, 2004 12:51 am

I just fried my Nf7-S and Barton 3000. I'm now looking for a new 478 mobo but can't choose!!! I'm currently looking at P4C800 Deluxe, IC7-Max3. Or should I go prescott and get AG8-3rd eye? My brain keeps telling me to stay away from prescott but reviews say that AG8 is pretty good. So any suggestions?

Thx for help

Personally I think the 3rd eye is a bit of a gimmik - I like some of the MSI features which achieve similar without any gimmick. Just one thought - I do not know in detail for your chosen processors (I am going with AMD64 Winchester)

I think I'll get a P4 2.8E. Worth upgrading it to P4 3.06E?

According to this page at intel.com there exists no P4 3.06E. The number 3.06 is only possible with a 533MHz FSB. So if anybody is selling that, it is most likely a "typo". Or more commonly: The people maintaining the sellers website don't know nothing about hardware.

Your question is: "Which chip is better for me A or A+?" And then you don't tell us more about your needs to base arguments on. Tell us what you need it for and what your requirements are, then we can give you advice. As an aside, I can hardly find an argument to advise anybody to buy a P4 Prescott over an AMD64 for a silent computer at the moment.
