pc riser card performance?
Hey guys i have been looking at some of the Silverstone HTPC style cases, and im wondering. Does using an AGP/PCI riser card affect performance at all? Ie. is there a performance hit for using a riser card? If not, some of those more slim line type cases (like the LC 04 or 08) would make a nice HTPC/ubergaming case! Opinions please
seeing as they're (PCI risers at least) used in many commercial 1U servers im pretty sure the performance loss is minimal, if at all noticable.
AGP risers should be similar i guess.
i think it's a signal noise issue though. longer AGP interface = greater exposure to EMI.
if you're building a hardcore gaming case, i'd think twice about using a small case & AGP-riser combo. temperature and performance might be affected.
however, if it's a home theatre PC it shouldn't be an issue.
