Sonata II, passive CPU cooling or fan?

Post by Swede2 » Wed Jun 29, 2005 2:51 am

I was thinking of getting the Sonata II case when it finally arrives here in Europe.

I was reading the manual for the Sonata II and it seems that they recommend using the ACAG and a 92 mm fan instead of a CPU fan.

So what is the best approach? A zalman 7700ALCU without a fan, or maybe an XP-120? And then a 92 mm fan in the ACAG of course.

Or maybe the ACAG should be skipped altogether and the heatsinks should be mounted with fans? Any experience on this anyone?

And when will the Sonata II be reviewed!? ;)

Hello & welcome to SPCR,

I'm not what qualifies a case to be used with a passive CPU HS -- but this most definitely depends on the CPU, primarily; and the HS. The Sonata II is an improvement on the original, but I cannot see how it is any better than the SLK3000B, for example -- let alone the P180!
