I'm trying to get SPDIF connections in my computer.

My motherboard says it has an internal i/o connector called an "SPDIF Port", and i was wondering if the following product would work with that?

http://www.saveware.com/p372.htm

it doesnt specify what connector it uses to connect to the motherboard, only that its optional for some.

My motherboard has the intel HD audio chip, but all analog ports on the back I/O. If that product would work it would be perfect for what i want. somthing small, coax/optical in/out ports.

Would it work?

and if no, can you suggest somthing or explain to me about this onboard SPDIF port and what i can use with it?

Hi Aris,

you should be able to use that with a little modding, if not directly. I have no idea on your motherboard's onboard connector, but if you look at the manual you should be able to figure the order of the signals/pins (+5V, GND, SPDIF_OUT or similar). The rest is just a matter of possibly re-wiring the bracket's connector to match the pins on your motherboard.

I was looking for a SPDIF bracket to my Asus A7V880, but couldn't get the proper Asus SPDIF bracket. But, I did find a similar bracket by MSI, the only difference was, that the pins were in different order. So I simple switched the wires to the correct order and it works OK. The MSI bracket also included inputs, but my motherboard didn't support these so I simply removed those wires.

Hi Aris,

The MSI bracket is called "S-bracket", heres a article with a picture of it. For some reason the MSI website(s) aren't exactly working right now :?

You can find the Asus bracket by simply googling for "asus spdif bracket", but I couldn't find the exact model.

I think I bought the MSI bracket "blindly", I checked which MSI boards supported it and then compared their pins to the ones on my Asus board. I found the signals to be exactly the same, so I went ahead and ordered it.

The price on that bracket you linked is decent, I think I paid around 10-12€ for mine.

I have an asus k8v deluxe 754 board. I believe it came with a spdif bracket. If that would work for you, pay for shipping and it's yours.

do you have a picture?

id prefer to get one that has both coax and optica, with 1x in and 1x out for each. so 4 connections in total.
