Program to measure watt

Post by aimfox » Wed Mar 12, 2008 5:41 pm

Anyone know a program that measures watt instead of purchasing Kill-A-Watt meter device?

afaik, there's no such program. there's a watts-up meter that can be connected to a pc and has a monitoring application.

Not exactly what you were asking for, but
PowerTop can use a notebooks battery drain information to estimate
power usage.

Most desktop computers aren't set up with devices that would monitor this.

I recall seeing an item someplace (probably on SPCR) about some kind of a computer peripheral like plugin power meter. But as I recall it was prety limited, and a Kill A Watt sounded like a better deal.

There are a few remote metering products that connect to household entry and can show your usage. Some of them have computer interface. (But again, not quite like a kill a watt).
[Don't remember name of the devices off hand, but a couple of them are linked from the wikipedia entry on electric power meter.]
