Hello everyone,

On the basis of recommendations found on spcr and at hardforums, I've selected the below components for my HTPC PC.

The HTPC will be connected to a 40" HD TV and a QNAP NAS server (located in another room). My goals are:
* To create a quiet HTPC that can play blue-ray discs and HD .MKV files from my NAS.
* Be able to play pc-games smoothly on the TV (e.g. star craft 2, fallout, civilization).

Do you guys think the below setup would work together?

Case: Silverstone Grandia GD05
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3
CPU: Intel i3 3,06 gHz
HDD/SSD: Kingston SSDNow V Series V GEN 2 128GB
GPU:Sapphire Radeon HD 5850
Blue-ray drive: LITEON iHOS104
CPU-fan: Scythe Big Shuriken
PSU: Nexus NX-5000 Silent PSU

Thanks a lot in advance! Any comments are welcomed.

Best,
Peter

For gaming, the resolution used is very important. The size of the screen doesn't matter, because no matter how big it is the resolution won't be greater than 1920 x 1080. The card you picked should be fine.

I won't attempt to guess how quiet it will be because:

Sound levels are subjective.

Noise levels are very dependent on the distance between the HTPC and the listener (sound level follows the inverse square law).

Ambient temperatures have a significant effect on how fast the fans run and the noise generated.
