I'm just about finished what might be the final build list, but I'm totally hung up on the heatsink choice and hoping someone can help me out.
The Asus P8Z68-V Pro has a PWM-enabled CPU fan header, so I thought it would be best to get a heatsink with a stock PWM fan. Seems like a simpler way to go than adding a voltage-based fan controller.
But as far as I can tell, none of the SPCR top-rated fans fit the bill in my case. Either they don't come with a PWM fan (e.g. all the Noctua HS) or if they do, they don't fit the Socket LGA1155 (e.g. Thermalright Silver Arrow/Venomous X).
Here's my best guesses so far...
1. Forget the PWM fans and get the wildly popular Noctua NH-D14 and run it at 900rpm with U.L.N.A.
2. Swap out the Noctua NH-D14 stock fans for PWM fans.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
