2 SSD

Post by jimdoe » Thu May 10, 2012 8:27 am

I have 2 SSD.

My 2nd SSD arrived today, and I connected it to my PC. The bios reads the 2nd SSD, no problem.

I don't want to run raid, I just want windows to read them separately (like a C drive, and an E drive). I want to use my 2nd SSD just to store my media files.

When I boot into windows, I only see my C drive, and I do not see my other SSD drive. What could be the problem?

Basically, shouldn’t windows read the 2nd SSD as an E drive?

In order for Windows to show you the SSD as drive E, you need to partition it and assign a drive letter to it. To do that, open the start menu, right-click on "Computer" and click on "Manage". In the window that opens, select "Storage->Disk Management". Your new SSD should now be visible in the list of disks at the bottom somewhere. Right-click on it and select "Initialize". I can't remember exactly what appears after that, but you should be able to keep clicking "ok" until it finishes.
