Hi.

I know. Too loud. My first post. My mom is so proud.

So, will a Scythe Grand Kama Cross (SGKC) Rev B CPU cooler fit in an Asus Maximus V Gene on an i5-3570K? It will fit height-wise in a NZXT H2, but I'm worried it might ram the RAM. Yeah, the Gene is mATX, but the width is the same as an ATX. Also, why does the SGKC RevB (blows down at the CPU not across it) get no lovin'? For all the resellers on the Scythe web site, I could only find it in stock at Platinum Micro in Cali. And it looks so fine. Like you parked a Harley in your box. Here's the rig I'm planning. Feel free to rip me a new one:
PART FROM COST
----------------------------------------- ----------------------- ------
NZTX H2 Micro Center 94 + tax
i5-3570K Micro Center 190 + tax
Asus Maximus V Gene Buy.com 196 shipped
Win 7 HP 64-bit Buy.com 95 shipped
Antec TP-750 Buy.com 128 shipped
OCZ Agility 4 512GB SSD Buy.com (4 hour sale 75 off) 299 shipped
G.Skill RipsawZ 4x4GB 12800mhz Newegg 87 shipped
EVGA GTX 560 Ti Newegg (includes 30 rebate) 190 shipped
Scythe Grand Kama Cross Rev B Platinum Micro 45 shipped
-----
Grand Total: 1324 plus about 14 in tax = 1338

I'm not a hyperactive 16 year old playing FPS games 40 hours straight. Just want to do Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, maybe others. I could go down to EVGA GTX 550 Ti and save 64 bucks. Or go up to the new GTX 660 Ti and blow another 110. I was planning to get a 256 GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD for 175, but I couldn't resist the 512 GB at 60 cents a GB.

Let me know if you see anything wrong. Or right. Thanks muchly.

G'day.

I changed a few things and placed the orders. I changed the power supply from the Antec TP-750 (yes I know, it was overkill) to the Kingwin LZP-550 FOR A LOUSY $3 MORE. Newegg had a big price drop, down to $120 + $11 shipping. I also swapped the EVGA GTX 550 Ti for the shiny new ASUS GTX 660 Ti for $110 more. Actually, only $80 more if you assume that EVGA will ignore my $30 rebate. I've read that from a lot of people. Oh, and Newegg DOES have the Scythe Grand Kama Cross Rev B CPU cooler, but you have to search for the part number SCKC-2100. And I'm sure it will fit. I forgot that the twin fins are high and V-shaped, so they couldn't get near the RAM. And, you can rotate it if you like.

----PART ------------------------------ FROM -------------------------------- COST
NZTX H2 ----------------------------- Micro Center ------------------------- 94 + tax
i5-3570K ----------------------------- Micro Center ------------------------ 190 + tax
ASUS GTX 660 Ti -------------------- Buy.com ----------------------------- 293 + 6 (2-day ship)
ASUS Maximus V Gene -------------- Buy.com ---------------------------- 196 shipped
OCZ Agility 4 512GB SSD ------------ Buy.com (4 hour sale 75 off) ---- 299 shipped
Win 7 HP 64-bit ---------------------- Newegg ---------------------------- 100 + 3 (rush ship)
Kingwin LZP-550 ---------------------- Newegg --------------------------- 120 + 11 ship
G.Skill RipsawZ 4x4GB 12800mhz --- Newegg ---------------------------- 87 shipped
Scythe Grand Kama Cross Rev B ----- Newegg ---------------------------- 44 shipped
-----
Grand Total: 1423 plus about 22 in tax = 1445

The ASUS Maximus V Gene is pretty sweet. It has Intel LAN and SupremeFX III sound. That makes up for fewer PCI slots. And no annoying WiFi. Important note: the MOBO and RAM are color-coordinated red and black. Just need x-ray vision for my H2 case.
