Need advice for changing the tler on a wd20efrx drive

Post by Kozak4k » Wed Feb 20, 2013 4:45 am

Has anyone succesfully patched their wdred 2tb drive to have "tler" disabled or set to another setting for desktop use with the wdtler tool?
Just wondering because WD is scaring people saying it could render the disks firmware useless on "newer" drives. But whats "newer"?
(source wikipedia). Mine's from september 28 2012

Is it even possible changing the setting on a red drive can render the disk useless or is it just silly talk by Western Digital?

On other forums its been suggested you cannot turn on the time limit on error recovery for desktop enterprise drives by wd. The other way around. But does this mean it could harm the firmware of a raid nasware drive like the red by turning it off or setting the tler to an ex tended time like maybe 30 secs instead of 7

Thanks
