Hello SPCR, long time no see,

i want to build an Intel based PC for a friend of mine. He does a lot of audio recording/editing and video work (Adobe Premiere and Aftereffects).

Our part list so far:
Code:
Intel Core i7 3820 4x 3.60GHz So.2011 WOF

ASRock X79 Extreme4 Intel X79 So.2011 Quad Channel DDR3 ATX Retail

16GB Corsair Vengeance Black DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9 Quad Kit

Scythe Mugen 3 Rev.B SCMG-3100

256GB Samsung 830 Basic Series 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s MLC Toggle (MZ-7PC256B/WW)

3000GB Western Digital Green WD30EZRX 64MB 3.5" (8.9cm) SATA 6Gb/

630 Watt be quiet! Pure Power L7 Non-Modular 80+

2048MB Zotac GeForce GT 640 Zone Edition Passiv PCIe 3.0 x16

LG Electronics Blu-ray Burner BH10LS SATA

24" Dell UltraSharp U2412M

With a Case we are at 1300€, would you spent the money differently? Are there major errors in this configuration? What about the CPU PSU combination?

The Plan is to put it in a simple Case with front to back airflow and two 120 case fans on 5-7 volts. The Harddisk will be mounted with rubber bands.

We need a Mainboard with 2x PCI slots for two "old" RME Multifaces (16 Channel recording).

Thanks in advance for your input!

Is there a reason to choose the Geforce 640 over the integrated GPU? Does the software perform much better with a dedicated GPU?

Besides that, things look really good. The most recent SPCR review of a bequiet! PSU was very favourable.

Have you considered what case to stuff all those components into?

Are there socket 2011 CPUs with GPUs?
Adobe says you need OpenGL 2.0 and or CUDA, but i guess only the expensive/powerfull cards will help rendering.
Is the 630 Watt PSU over the top? Will a 400-500 Watt version do the job too?

I have worked with Cases like this.
There is enough room for suspended 3,5 Disks.
