USB3 front connections

Post by Stephen » Mon Dec 03, 2012 5:44 pm

I just finished a new build over the weekend. The case has two USB3 connections in the front, and I have an AFT PRO-57U front panel with two USB3 connections as well. My motherboard (ASUS P8Z77-V Pro) has a place to put in a connection to either the two front panel USB3 connectors or the PRO-57U connectors, but not both. Is there a way to connect both?

The P8Z77-V PRO has two internal USB3 headers so I don't see what the problem is. One is by the main power connector and the other is at the bottom of the board.

This would be the cheapest option, if you don't mind using up the rear USB3 ports on your motherboard:

Otherwise, you could buy a PCI-e card with an internal USB3 header.

I missed that for some reason - discovered it when re-reading the manual. Thanks, though. A "duh" moment on my part!!
