I am building an HTPC in a lian-li pc-c37, and in choosing which power supply to use, I have hit a fork in the road.
psu options: Seasonic ss-300es, or ss-300-et.
effectively these are the same PSU, but the ET has a top-cooling 12cm fan, and the ES uses an 8cm front-to-back fan.
the lian li case does have an upper supply vent above the atx psu, but it is poorly aligned (see photo), maybe only 50% open, and only 6mm from the top of an ATX PSU.
I like the 12cm option for the goal of less noise, but am concerned that the proximity of fan to case is too close, and that there will then be a whooshing noise past the misaligned, small case holes.
current layout
maybe I'm worrying about nothing? any thoughts?
advice on PSU orientation/choice?
