Fan Control software for Thinkpads here

The CPU fan was driving me nuts (as always), searched the internet and found this handy little app:

Shimodax Fan Control

It apparently has been extensively tested by users of Thinkpad, see this forum thread: Shimodax' thread @ thinkpads.com, Just put it on my own laptop and CPU runs fanless @ 48 deg C.

I'll post back with results in a few days.

Which Thinkpad do you have?

It's a T42, not the p version. 1.7 Ghz Centrino.

Only for T4x, or at least not for mine.

And the hard drive is the loudest part of mine anyway... Must buy a 3.5" hard drive so that I can retire my Samsung to the laptop.
