AVA Custom laptops?

Post by djkest » Tue Dec 11, 2007 1:10 pm

Hey guys,
just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this company, AVA direct.

AVA

Looks like they take barebone laptops, which probably includes the screen, motherboard, battery, and case, and you can select the components you want in it.

Okay, all companies can do this, but the difference is with these guys is, they dont' rip you off on the components! For example, to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB of RAM at Dell costs $120. Here it costs $19.04. You can even select the brand name of RAM you want, from Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, and OCZ.

I was able to configure a laptop w/ a T-7250, 2GB of RAM, 8600GT 256MB (discrete) video, and a 120GB hard drive for under $1000. Seems like a really good deal. And on the outside they look like a normal Compaq/IBM/Asus whatever laptop.

Seems intriguing, and a really good deal to boot.
