I just ordered this little thing and I hear people have mixed impressions regarding the noise. Some say it's quiet, some say it's not. Just wanted to check with you guys if anyone has any experience with this netbook.

Well, I've been using my HP Mini 5101 for a little while now and it's not super quiet. But it seems that the 7200RPM HDD is responsible for most of the noise. I will eventually buy an Intel SSD for my main system and then I will replace the mechanical drive in the HP Mini with my current system drive, an Mtron MOBI 16GB. That should make the HP Mini quiet enough I hope.

Another update. Now I have replaced the mechanical HDD with an SSD and my HP Mini is now a small, sturdy, quiet little machine.

I highly recommend this netbook. Clean design, high resolution display. I use Ubuntu 9.10 netbook remix which works fine.
