Samsung NC10 is silent after all

More popular than ever, but some are still very noisy.

Samsung NC10 is silent after all

Post by DAve_M » Fri Jul 17, 2009 2:38 am

Just a heads up it seems that the samsung nc10 has a silent, fanless mode according to http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4728.

If you were looking to get a dell mini 9 or 10 for fanless operation, you can now give the nc10 a look too.

And how about the N130 / N140 by Samsung? N140 is the direct successor of NC-10.

I'm praying for a fanless CULV & ION board, but I'm dreaming :D

Oh yeah! ) If you need it for entertainment. I touched the Samsung N130 recently. It's very silent when doing a usual internet surf. Don't know about serious loads. Very nice model. I like it. Though it may have unsatisfactory frame rate at HD-video.

...

Incredibly quiet - pretty close to silent. In a really quiet room I have to put my ear right to the keyboard to hear a slight humming inside. I keep thinking if the N140 might be fanless, but it’s not.

There is a “silent modeâ€

Hmm, i have a NC10 and i dont think its silent. My fan constantly ramps up when trying to watch a youtube video. Also when my netbook is charging the cooling is loud

Then we can say that Samsung learns from mistakes :) My girl-friend's N140 is very silent, sometimes I can't tell precisely is it On or Off.

Another low noise competitor, Samsung NP-N220 Netbook

For hours there was not a sound from the fan. And when it did come to life, it was still so quiet that even the spinning of the 250 GB hard drive was louder. But one can hardly talk of 'loud' or 'noise' in this context. The N220 Maroh is almost as quiet as a netbook with no fan.
