You mean with the fins bent upwards? No reason it shouldn't work.
I don't think anyone tried it yet. But one person did put a CNPS6000 on a nortbridge, in a desktop case, and someone had bent the fins of a ZM17 apart for a geforce 4.
Do you know a place that still sells ZM-17's?

It should be able to fit, those thin fins are bendable. Assuming you have a video card in the way, you'll probably have to bend one side ~30 degrees up, and the other side ~150 degrees up and to the other side.
Can you actually find one though? Or do you have one left over?

Bad idea to use thermal adhesive. If you use that you will never be able to get the sink off.

You could dilute thermal adhesive with equivalent type regular thermal compound, in something like a 1:1:1 ratio (not 1:1:2, that would be very weak).

try using standard thermal compound (put your pc sideways) to test and if it works use the glue, but if you know it will work why not just use the glue in the 1st place?
so can someone confirm you can bend these fins without breaking them
