but it's going to be a bit limited. from this xtremesystems post by the author of clockgen:

Actually no fine tuning is possible on this PLL. In fact it is there, but does not work :(
Anyway, there are predefined clock settings that can be choosen :

With spread : the max FSB is 220MHz, with AGP = 73 and PCI = 36.
Steps are : 200, 204, 210, 214, 220

Without spread : the max FSB is 229MHz, with AGP = 76 and PCI = 38.
Steps are : 200, 203, 209, 219, 229

and later..

I sent a test version (with no spread) to Harshal, I'm waiting for his results.

As this version provides no fine tuning, it will be free.

so that means a 3000+ winchester can get up to 2061mhz, a 3200+ 2290mhz and a 3500+ 2519mhz. sure it's a 15% increase over stock speed, but i want more more more!

Does this mean the RS480 has no AGP lock?

Hey, I won't complain. 15% more folding power on one of my machines is always good.

Keep us informed ;)

No RS480 in it self is good. Just that the clock generator in this MSI board is not meant for overclocking. Also the voltage adjustments in it's bios are limited.

I am waiting for the Sapphire "gruper" board to come out in 1-2 months. It has the same rs480 and a newer sb with azalia HD audio and faster usb etc...
It should be a real killer performer.

there are a number of rs480 boards coming that use the uli southbridge (giving azalia audio and sata ii/ncq) and ati's upcoming sb450 will add those features too, though it seems none of the boards bar the sapphire and an unpurchasable jetway will allow overclocking, at least that's what i've been reading.

i just cannot fathom the decision-making behind that. it's a clock generator. probably costs $0.78 in bulk, or $0.84 for the 300mhz-capable version. how much sense does it make to save $0.06 per motherboard, when you could be selling an extra thousand units (or many more) to enthusiasts?

things like this just amaze me sometimes. maybe there is some byzantine logic behind it all, but i don't see it.

Slightly updated version and new download location:
http://www.cpuid.org/cg.php?cgid=ICS951412

Are there any veteran ClockGen users arround that can explain to me why this version doesn't support voltage and multiplier control? Now I need to use both ClockGen and CrystalCPUID :(
